It is about rule less outsider to society who thought about the nature of universe in a very systematic manner. They never came back to the society they left.
Questions they tried to answer far deeper than mathematicians and philosophers today. They asked the question of origin or root. They asked when time begins and when time ends. Where is heading anyway. Their starting point is society and beliefs and rules of the society whatever they may be. They mentally juggled with societies with different belief systems.
What is the root? Is it destructible? Is it before time or after time?
They were far more fundamental thinkers than mathematicians' of today trying to avoid paradox in composition in set. They accommodated paradox of all kinds in sets. Yet they could reach root or truth or creator.
they did not differentiate or discriminate as we do as we learn to do. They stop doing discrimination except for fun and fun only. Like trying out a new recipe and taste.
They admitted All and what is meant by all. Todays philosopher would not understand this. There is something beyond belief or disbelief.
All belief or disbelief circles around an empty space where their presence is denied.
What they discovered revolutionary:
Truth us there is no truth.
